time-out for bragging

Synchronized swimming championships took over our lives this last weekend. Let's start with the night before, when Grace ran into the wall of the swimming pool because she was practicing without goggles and had her eyes closed. She was doing a "lung buster" (this is where they swim underwater the length of the pool to practice holding their breath.) Her eyes were closed and smack, into the wall. Ouch.

~two routines
~up at 6am (two days in a row)
~an hour trek to Davis (it could have been worse)
~a really hot weekend

It made for a long weekend.

But just let me tell you, when Grace's name was announced for 1st place in the "8 and under" age group, a lump formed in my throat. As I watch from the audience, I almost cried. My girl got first place in her figures.

When your baby is born, you wonder what she will be... what and who she will love... how she will look... what will make her smile and how her laugh will sound... then you begin to watch it unfold. It's amazing to see your child coming into their own.  I'm so proud of Grace and her accomplishments.

All year long, Grace struggles with academics. It's wonderful to see a time when she can shine and feel confident in herself and what she's capable of doing and what you've known all along.  Nice work, Grace.  We love you!!

Aww, this made me cry. I was so excited to hear of her first place. It's so wonderful when they find something that they can own and make them feel confident. So proud of her!
