Beer For All

Ages that is. We have a strong liking for the hard to find root beers. We are not into the grocery store 2 liter or 6 pack. 4 packs and funky bottles are what we look for. Now it goes in phases. Its not something that we have around all the time, but when we get the hankering for a taste of the 1800's we hit BevMo.

Last weekend we picked up these 3 natural root beers. 2 were geared toward the soda drinker as they were a little sweet and had a vanilla finish. The 3rd was very natural with the majority of the flavor coming from the anise. It was still sweet but it was not sugary(is that a word) sweet.

Anyone else experiment with root beers??

And while we are on beverages we had a nice 9dollar cab tonight. Hess Select from 05. It had that traditional Napa cab body and oak upfront with a nice finish of cherry and leather. Very nice for the price.

I also saw my old boss at the glass blowers today. He said that he was putting in 100 new vines this yr. Mostly Viognior which is a favorite white of mine. Should be a nice addition to his vineyard and should also compliment what is being grown in the neighborhood. Between my parents vines and the stuff Rick is doing (I hope he is looking for some assistance) we should be able to cover our bases in the wine dept over the next couple yrs. I may be looking for some judges so keep watch!!
